Women beach, cycling track: What Dubai new Al Mamzar Corniche Beach will feature
Public beach for women, night swimming pools, sports club, playgrounds, running, walking and cycling tracks — these are just some of the amenities that the new Al Mamzar Corniche Beach, on 125,000 sq metres, 80 metres wide, will have.
Although the first phase of the Al Mamzar Beach Development Project is close to half complete, the Dubai Municipality recently awarded the second phase which will be developed beachfront in Al Mamzar Corniche.
The two phases of the project will both be completed by end 2025 at an estimated cost of around Dh400 million.
Novel design
The new running, walking and cycling trails between Al Mamzar Creek Beach and Al Mamzar Park are the first of their kind in the region, and combine beach paths with parks. They too will have spaces designed with the most luxurious landscaping in mind.
They’ll also have a 5,000 sq metre event and activity area, and a 2,000 sq metre skateboard zone. There will also be smart services such as AI-driven surveillance, drowning aids, crowd management and smart luggage lockers.
"This project is our way of introducing innovative and environmentally sound infrastructure for Dubai’s future vision, consolidating Dubai’s leadership position across various key sectors, and supporting the implementation of Dubai Economic Agenda D33 objectives," said Bader Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality.
First phase nears half-way stage
The first section of the project, which began in June last year, is 45 per cent complete.
Over 275,000 square metres, the beach is 30 metres wide at some places and 90 metres wide at others. It involves building a 200-metre-long pedestrian pontoon bridge between the two sides of the creek to make it accessible to all.
They also offer 300 metre night-swimming beach that’s accessible for the willed, 5 km walking and running and cycling paths on the beach.
