UAE Weather: Rainfall, Cooler Temps Expected
The National Centre of Meteorology reports that residents across most areas of the UAE should prepare for more rainfall and cooler temperatures today. With expected dips in temperature, reaching as low as 21°C in some regions, it's advisable for residents to stay updated on weather conditions and plan accordingly.
Regions in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, Fujairah, and Khor Fakkan have been particularly impacted by severe weather, experiencing rain, hail, and thunderstorms. The intensity of the storms led to wadis overflowing in certain areas, causing local disruptions. Authorities issued an orange alert for thunderstorms, urging residents to exercise caution and stay informed about the evolving weather conditions to ensure safety and preparedness for any further developments.
On Wednesday, some areas of the UAE were placed under a yellow alert for precipitation, as cumulonimbus clouds, with rain and strong winds up to 40 km/hr, are forecasted to hit certain eastern and inland regions from 2pm to 8pm. Residents need to be vigilant in case of engaging in outdoor activities.
In the early hours of Wednesday, Fujairah saw moderate to heavy rainfall. The Storm Centre highlighted the event by sharing a video on its social media platform, showcasing the intensity of the downpour and providing visual updates on the weather conditions affecting the region.
According to the prediction by the NCM, today's weather will be mostly fair with some clouds, and possibly cloudy in the east and south areas with a chance of rain. There will be gentle to medium winds blowing, occasionally getting stronger and leading to the spread of dust.
Sea conditions will be mild to moderate in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea, providing relatively calm waters for maritime activities in these regions.
Some areas in the country will experience temperatures as low as 21°C. Temperatures in the interior regions of the UAE will peak at 46°C.
The UAE is expected to experience wet weather conditions through Thursday, August 8, as the Inter Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) extends southward over the country. This climatic pattern, combined with upper-level pressure systems moving in from the east, is bringing increased cloud cover and precipitation. Residents should prepare for continued rainfall and possible storms as these systems interact with local weather patterns. The persistence of these conditions is likely to affect outdoor activities and may lead to localized flooding in some areas. Stay updated with weather forecasts and heed any advisories from local authorities.
