UAE: Typing centers appeal to the visa seekers demanding full papers
Typing center agents in the UAE are persuading amnesty seekers to ensure they have all the necessary documents as many applicants are coming with incomplete papers to process their applications.
Certain typing centers situated in the precincts of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship around the Al Rahmaniya area are experiencing a stampede of people who would want to take advantage of the amnesty that was initiated in the United Arab Emirates on the 1st September 2024.
Of course, there are many amnesty applicants coming to apply for an outpass and to change their status. But many people are coming without proper papers. Those wishing to convert their status and remain in the country are expected to get visas from the employer,” the lady who does this job in Tawi Saji’ah opposite the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship in Al Rahmaniya said.
Some typing centers agreed to lower the fees and in doing so be able to get more applicants.
Where the applicant is seeking only an outpass, the person can only present a passport, a photo of the person and a copy of the expired visa of the person.
But for those people seeking an amnesty who have a company offering employment but have absconded and their visas have not been canceled — such persons need to first cancel their visa, take a new offer and approval from the labor — such applications can also be allowed. After seeking an outpass, they can change this status from within the country without going out of the country. Thereafter, they are to apply for a fresh employment visa.
In the UAE, there was an amnesty scheme starting from 1st September 2024 for a period of two months where this scheme was available for workers with no regular status in the country and hence this adds lots of advantages such as creating and getting new opportunities in the area of development of jobs among others.
Tens if not hundreds of people seeking amnesty from Caribbean and Central and South America plus Tunisia were visibly sighted in cages in West African countries typing centers to apologize their status. For others, some came to obtain an outpass, some came to try their luck at getting a job with a company and wished to legitimize their stay and employment in the UAE.
Most of the applicants who went straight to the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship were advised to go first to the typing center for some documents and visit the authority later to finalize the process.
Some typing center staff were playing a controversial role in helping people who were looking for amnesty by bringing them in their vehicles to the typing centres because they were quite a distance from where they were without having to cross the highway separating the Al Rahmnia and the Tawi Saji’ah area.
“We are just helping them cross the road since it is a little bit far. This is a win-win for both of us. This gives us business and they do not have to walk such a long distance.” he explained.
Typing centres situated along the old immigration road in Sharjah noted that they were receiving a number of requests from individuals looking for amnesty and those who wished to get out passes and legalize their stay in the UAE.
