UAE travel group launching Indian airline, expanding regionally
An Indian conglomerate established in the UAE will introduce an airline that promises to offer affordable airfare for locals. The Alhind group, with over thirty years of experience in the travel sector, has obtained the necessary approval to launch its domestic airline in India.
Mohammad Haris, the leader of the group, mentioned that they were close to obtaining the necessary approvals. He mentioned that we met with CIAL officials last week and provided all necessary documents for landing approval at the airport. We had previously been granted the no objection certificate (NOC) to initiate the airline. Our goal is to start operations in January 2025, or possibly sooner.
Alhind Airline is set to commence operations with three ATR-72 turboprop aircraft. The company, which originally operated only in Indian cities, now has intentions to grow quickly. A company spokesperson confirmed that they will initiate international operations to the UAE once they reach 20 flights, starting with three initially.
We have been operating in this area for many years and a few of our most devoted clients are from the UAE. Our goal is to maintain our ticket prices among the most competitive in the market in order to cater to the expatriates residing here. Our international operations will be centered on the Middle East.
Even though he didn't give a specific timeframe for when international operations would begin, he mentioned that the company is working towards starting them as soon as possible. He mentioned that Akash Airline in India began its international flights within only 17 months of commencing its domestic operations. "We aim to adhere to a comparable timeline if not quicker."
He said that the management of Alhind has had conversations with important individuals such as India's Civil Aviation Minister and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, who have given their full support to the project.
Based in Kerala, Southern India, Alhind group operates in various sectors such as ticketing, tours, charters, hotels, and visa services. As per the company's documents, the group's revenue surpasses Dh8 billion. The team, working under the Alhind Business Centre in the UAE, has been in the country for more than 19 years.
The official stated that they are a General Sales Agent and are currently making bookings for multiple Indian airlines, such as SpiceJet. Therefore, it is a logical next step for us to begin an airline. The preparation and effort for this project has been ongoing for numerous years.
The official also verified that the group will use an Airbus A320 for their flights in the Middle East, and the aircraft will include a business class section. In order to maintain low expenditures, the company will only employ a limited amount of personnel.
He mentioned that we currently have two offices located in Kerala and New Delhi. We have employed just the right amount of employees to ensure our operations run smoothly. We aim to minimize our expenses in order to provide our customers with the most affordable ticket prices. When we begin our global operations, we will establish a branch in the UAE.
Zettfly Aviation was granted a NOC to provide scheduled commuter air transport services for three years. Following the required arrangements, the airline plans to begin with domestic services in the southernmost state of India, and later expand internationally with Dubai being among its initial foreign locations.
