UAE travel: Best days to book tickets, save up to 22% on flights revealed
Sunday offers the best prices for booking flights while remaining the priciest day to travel.
The day on which you book tickets and travel influences both your schedule and your budget. The 2025 Air Hacks Report from travel brand Expedia shows travellers save 16 per cent when they book on Sunday but incur a 16 per cent price increase when flying on Sunday instead of Thursday.
Analysing air ticketing database in the world – through collaboration with Airlines Reporting Corporation and data provider OAG – here are air travel hacks to get more value for your money.
When to book
Sunday bookings for international flights result in an average savings of 16 per cent when compared to booking on Fridays.
Passengers who decide to book their premium class seats during the weekend will save 22 per cent on average versus people who book their seats on Thursday.
To achieve maximum savings when booking international airfare travelers should complete their booking six to 12 days ahead of departure. Passengers who booked flights during an optimal time frame saved 21 per cent on average compared to those who booked between 128 and 138 days before departure during the least favorable booking period.
When to travel
Compared to Monday departures which represent the costliest start for international travel passengers save an average of nine per cent by flying on Thursdays.
Flights that depart between 9pm and 3am demonstrate an eight percent reduction in cancellation probability compared to other departure times. Flights taking off between 3pm and 9pm experience a 20 percent greater cancellation risk than nighttime flights.
During June there are the fewest cancellations but April experiences the most.
Travellers find January to be the least expensive month for purchasing economy tickets. Passengers can achieve savings up to 13 per cent when they book their flights in January as opposed to June which stands as the peak month for economy ticket prices.
The lowest prices for premium tickets are available in July. Summer travel offers travelers a 14 per cent savings on premium tickets when compared to prices in October.
Tuesdays offer quieter airports for travellers who choose to fly on that day. Flying does not always cost the least on this day but offers the most serene experience for passengers.
