UAE Traffic: Reduce black points with new initiative
The Ministry of Interior has announced a reduction in traffic penalties across the UAE to support its awareness campaign, 'Accident Free Day'. This initiative, launching on August 26, aims to promote safer driving practices and reduce road accidents by offering decreased fines as part of a broader road safety effort.
The initiative will see a reduction of four black traffic points for motorists who adhere to traffic laws by avoiding getting into accidents. They must also sign the traffic pledge provided on the Ministry's website.
This initiative, effective from August 26, will be available for two weeks, providing drivers with a chance to benefit from reduced traffic penalties. During this period, both drivers and parents are strongly encouraged to follow all traffic regulations. The campaign aims to enhance road safety and minimize accidents by promoting compliance with traffic laws and fostering responsible driving behavior across the UAE.
Coinciding with the new school year, the scheme aims to ensure a first day of school without any accidents as students return from their summer holidays and yellow buses hit the Emirates' bustling streets.
The authority emphasized that the campaign aims to foster a culture of responsible driving by educating drivers on vehicle safety, adhering to speed limits near schools, and avoiding distractions such as mobile phones.
The initiative also focuses on ensuring that motorists adhere to traffic lanes, maintain safe distances between vehicles, prioritize pedestrian crossings, and yield to emergency vehicles. By emphasizing these critical aspects of road safety, the campaign aims to foster a more organized and secure driving environment for everyone on the road.
