UAE to award Blue Visa to 20 environment advocates as it launches first phase
On Tuesday, at the World Governments Summit 2025, the UAE kicked off the first phase of the Blue Visa, which boasts the features of a 10-year residency permit.
In this stage, Blue Visa will be granted to 20 sustainability thought leaders and innovators, according to the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP).
The Blue visa provides for a 10-year residence path for those- ((inside or outside the country- who have provided an exceptional service to protect and sustain the environment.
It is a visa that is provided for activists working in environmental work area including international organisation members, international companies, members of association and non-governmental organisations, global winners of awards and renowned environmental activists and researchers.
Blue Visa: This new visa is an addition to the already launched Golden and Green Residencies.
How to apply
The initial stage of the electronic system enables the issuance of the electronic approval through requested applications registered by all concerned governmental entities in sustainability sectors based on the procedures approved on the ICP's website.
Those sustainability advocates and experts who wish to have the Blue visa of the UAE can approach the ICP directly or via a competent authority.
Through its dedicated website and mobile application, the ICP will make the Blue Visa service available around the clock for approved individuals based on certain terms and conditions of use.
