UAE: Sharjah resident wins Dh25-million prize in Big Ticket Draw
Aravind Appukuttan, an Indian from Sharjah, got a Dh25-million jackpot, ticket number 447363, in the most recent Big Ticket draw on Tuesday 3 December.
His friend called Aravind first while the hosts called him. The Indian expat knew he’d won something, but was in the dark about the amount. The Dh25 million ticket gave him was a free ticket, it transpired.
Once the Big Ticket team called him up, they joked that the Sharjahi who was on a shopping spree "could now own a shop". That salesman expat who’s been purchasing tickets for 2 years "did not expect" the grand prize which he will share with 20 other people.
"It’s not quite gotten there yet, but for now I’m going to spend the winnings smartly – refinancing a few loans, and leaving the rest for a bit." My advice to other Big Ticket competitors: never quit and keep at it," Aravind said.
And last month’s Dh20 million grand prize winner, Prince Sebastian, also won in the draw on November 3. Prince won last month, and he voted for the ticket that made this month’s new millionaire.
Alongside the big prize, there was a "Dream Car" winner. Harun Rashid, a Bangladeshi who lives in Saudi Arabia, was also arrested for a BMW 840I under ticket 018422.
There were four other people who were also winners of cash in the ‘Big Win’ contest. Abdul Nazer from Kerala in India, received Dh100,000. MD Mehedi, a construction worker, has won Dh50,000 that he will share among 17 people.
Akash Raj, who bought tickets 3 years and is from Kerala, took Dh70,000. He drew the first box that opened with Dh50,000 and decided to give it another shot, even though he’d have to take the second number. Fortunately, he opened a box behind which was more than his original selection.
So did Mohammed Haneff, a guest of Big Ticket who had initially pulled open a box that contained Dh30,000. But he decided to go again and got Dh75,000.
Earlier, the raffle promoter also said that a Dh30-million guaranteed prize is up for grabs during December. Apart from the grand prize winner, four others will be made millionaires by the draw. 4 weekly e-draws will be made and each one will be a winner.
UAE citizens can also welcome in the new year with the "Big Win" competition offering Dh20,000-Dh150,000 in cash prizes. Those who purchase 2 tickets worth Dh1,000 on the same day between 1 December to 25 December automatically get entered in weekly draws.
One winner per week will be chosen to advance to the next round, and the names of the confirmed players will appear on the Big Ticket website on 1 January 2025.
They will also be able to win a "Dream Car" giveaway: a Maserati Grecale will be up for grabs in the January 3 live draw.
