UAE Rulers meet for iftar at historic Sheikh Zayed farm in Dubai
During the holy month of Ramadan in the UAE President Sheikh Mohamed hosted the Rulers of the emirates for iftar at Sheikh Zayed's farm located in Al Khawaneej Dubai on Tuesday.
President Sheikh Mohamed presented a photo taken in March 1971 of the UAE's Founding Father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to the Rulers for a discussion about the formation of the UAE.
The farm has been recognized as the third national landmark that played a critical role in the UAE's foundation.
I enjoyed joining my brother rulers of the Emirates to share iftar at a location with deep historical importance. In March 1971 the late Sheikh Zayed hosted meetings with the Rulers at his farm in Al Khawaneej, Dubai for two weeks to develop plans for the formation of the UAE. The UAE President confirmed that this farm now stands alongside Union House and Arqoob Al Sedira as one of the essential locations which contributed to forming the Union.
In March 1971 Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan stayed about two weeks at his farm in Al Khawaneej for the UAE founding anniversary where he hosted meetings with other Emirate Rulers to discuss the Union and constitution leading to the signing of the 'Union Pact' four months later.
The UAE President met with Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the Supreme Council Members who also serve as Rulers of their respective Emirates including Dubai's Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Sharjah's Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Fujairah's Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Umm Al Quwain's Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla and Ras Al Khaimah's Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi at a farm to share Ramadan greetings.
