UAE: New stem cells research centre launched to boost market growth to Dh4.7 billion by 2030
The United Arab Emirates University inaugurated its innovative Stem Cells Research Centre to establish the first of its kind in the nation's higher education system.
The center focuses on developing local manufacturing skills while forming international partnerships to expand the stem cell market throughout the Middle East. The market size is expected to expand from $711.8 million (Dh2.6 billion) in 2024 to $1.3 billion (Dh4.7 billion) by 2030 due to increased government funding and growing demand for medical innovations.
Through its work on stem cell research and therapies the lab marks a crucial achievement in UAE's healthcare advancement plans to become a leading force in regenerative medicine globally. This initiative supports national objectives to become a global authority in advanced medical sciences.
The research facility is building relationships with important local and international partners including the Abu Dhabi Stem Cells Centre which has partnered with UAEU since 2019 to fund research projects, run clinical trials and promote knowledge sharing between experts.
During the opening ceremony Prof Fatma Al Jasmi, acting dean of UAEU's College of Medicine and Health Sciences, called the Stem Cell Research Centre a significant milestone that demonstrates the university's commitment to advancing research innovation and developing national medical science capacities.
We will use this center to train Emirati scientists who can provide advanced medical solutions and establish the UAE as a worldwide leader in regenerative medicine.
