UAE: New Golden Visa scheme announced for teachers, school leaders in RAK
 
                                            
An announcement has been made regarding the new Golden Visa programme for teachers employed in both public and private schools in Ras Al Khaimah. As stated by the Department of Knowledge Ras Al Khaimah, the scheme provides a self-sponsored long-term residency to qualified professionals.
The programme is open to two main categories of educators:
1. School leaders: These include the principals, the vice principals and the school directors.
2. Teachers: These include all qualified educators who actively taught in Ras Al Khaimah public schools and private (International) schools.
The regulatory authority will simplify the application form in order to enable applicants to qualify on a selective basis. Some parameters include minimum 3 years stay and employment in Ras Al Khaimah, some advanced degree in relevant fields and proven success in his/her performance and the school’s as well.
Who can apply and how?
Eligible teachers must provide an appointment letter from the Ministry of Education attest qualifications and credentials, provide proof of residency and occupation, and provide testimonials for their efforts towards enhancing the school's performance.
Upon submission of all the requisite documents, the RAK DOK will complete the evaluation of these documents and inform the educator about the confirmation of his eligibility to proceed with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security to complete the Golden Visa process.
In an eligibility guide, the RAK DOK explained that school administrators are not among those eligible for the 10year visa. “The policy is targeted towards educators who engage in direct teaching and educational administration.
The Golden visa may be obtained by suitable teachers regardless of their nationality. Reviewing applications for the eligibility of RAK DOK is free. Further, this is not bounded in terms of applying for ICP submission but applicants will be required to submit the appropriate fees. On average applications will take not more than two weeks to complete.
The authority has made it clear in the guide that after the approval of educator Golden Visa, family members may apply for long term residency which includes spouse, parents and children.
Eligibility criteria
- According to the guide, it is enough for any of the following to apply, school administrator or teacher:
- Letter of appointment in the Ministry of Education (MoE) or RAK DOK.
- MoE equivalency certificate for an overseas obtained advanced degree (master’s or PhD).
- Must be an existing resident and employment holder in Ras Al Khaimah for not less than three years.
School leaders
- Should throughout the period outperform the set goals, customers, and third parties (for instance, school rating inform ’acceptable’ and before inform good and now inform’ very good” ).
- Should have the endorsement letter from the board of governors’ which takes note of the leader’s outstanding contribution to the community college.
Teachers
They should demonstrate their compliance with at least 3 of the following criteria: 
1. Show positive impacts on students’ learning outcomes.
2. Get usefulness and satisfaction from students, school leadership, and parents.
3. Attainment of any awards or having some form of recognition for education activities at regional or national levels.
4. Impacting the students of determination.
5. Use of advanced teaching techniques and appropriate use of technology.
6. Engagement and involvement in various professional growth activities.
