UAE gamers spend up to Dh30,000 on setups
Players are pouring as much as Dh30,000 into their stellar gaming stations. This activity that began as a casual pastime has evolved into a costly obligation. Many hobbyists are upgrading their kit for enhanced performance and display.
Expenses pile up fast due to tailored PCs, multiple screens, and high-end gear. An Emirati player, K.A, aged 26, shared her story about her gaming station that she values roughly Dh25,000. She lists her station essentials as "a desk, a mouse, a keyboard, mouse pad, and two screens.
"The PC costs the most, but it's worth all the money," she expresses. She points out aesthetics too: "A good-looking setup improves the game time and keeps me going." Even with the tough part of regular upgrades, she reminds others to "be patient, don't hurry," implying starting simple and slowly upgrading is wise for budget folks.
Arshiya Faraghat has adjusted her setup for live-streaming and making content, picking usefulness over luxury. "I've put in a lot, but I don't always pick the top-rated," she conveyed.
"I think practicality rules over price," she mentioned. "This applies to your individual needs too." The focus on her gear is important. She pointed out, "For streaming, a good mic was a must-have. My choice? The Audio-Technica AT2020 USB. The price of Dh1,000 was worth it, as it's been sturdy for five years." Surprisingly, she leans towards moderate-price tech for other devices.
"Less spendy keyboards and mouses work for me, knowing they'll soon be replaced due to tech updates." Her station sports RGB lights, multiple screens, a stream deck, and a top-notch webcam. But, her high-res TV, used for gaming and live-streaming, is the star: "
The TV costs more than my PC, but big-score games need it," she reveals. Arshiya upholds step-by-step improvements: “Start small, then build up your gear over time. Balancing function with style is key.” She considers reaching the perfect gaming setup as a journey in itself.
Meet Mohammad Al Najjar. He's a computer engineer at GCC Gamers and he's seen a shift in company focus. Before, they were all about basic stuff like servers.
Now, they're into gaming. Mohammad sees lots of promise in this area and believes it's key to satisfy customer needs. In terms of cost, he says it varies. A gaming set up could range from Dh3,000 to over Dh30,000, all depending on what games you want to play and what hardware you need.
The gaming market, he adds, is especially popular among the young ones, sparking interest among kids aged 8 to 16 recently. Those gaming PCs aren't just for fun, either! Since remote learning took off, lots of these computers have been used for things like programming and design, notes Mohammad. He also throws out a caution to parents about gaming - watch what your kids are playing and keep an eye on them while they're gaming online.
