UAE travel experts report an increasing trend in inbound travel for Eid Al Fitr this year because of good weather conditions.

Business travel is experiencing a slowdown yet airfare prices throughout the nation are going up by a minimum of 20 per cent due to the overlap between the Eid Al Fitr holidays and the school spring break.

March 31 marks the expected date for Eid this year while UAE schools start their spring break on March 18.

The COO of musafir.com Raheesh Babu reported a 30 per cent increase in holiday bookings throughout the Eid and Spring Break season. More people are traveling abroad for their holidays.

Families prefer traveling to Switzerland, Italy, Latvia and South East Asian destinations including Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia as well as African locations like South Africa, Kenya, Zanzibar and CIS countries such as Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan.

Residents invite family, friends for Eid

Babu reported that travel fares rose around 15-20 percent from the previous month. The price increase stems from increased demand during the Eid and Spring Break periods because of last-minute travel bookings.

A new trend is emerging where UAE residents invite family and friends to join them for Eid celebrations through increased inbound travel. Holiday bookings exhibited a 25 per cent growth this month when compared to the previous month. Heightened interest in outbound travel to well-known destinations is causing this increase according to his statement.

UAE-based airlines together with regional and international carriers are expanding their flight schedules to address the rising travel demand.

Reena Philip, who manages operations at Airtravel Enterprises and Tourism LLC explained that airfares jumped between 20 and 30 percent this year because Eid and school vacations overlap. Airfare prices usually go up during school holidays or Eid independently but rise even further when both events occur at the same time. During this time period numerous individuals select to return to their home nations. The demand for holiday travel to Europe has increased substantially although most travelers do not possess Schengen visas and cannot secure appointments to apply for them.

The Ramadan season has reduced business travel by 30 per cent but business travel is forecasted to increase in the third week because the fasting period will nearly conclude by then.

Japan thrives amid ongoing Expo success

China and Japan remain strong travel destinations for business purposes because Japan's Expo will operate through March 16.

The Expo event stands as the main reason for Japan's current positive performance. Visa issuance in Saudi Arabia is temporarily stopped because of Ramadan. China maintains strong business performance according to Lakshmii Annand who heads TravelzMind.

The travel agency offered both packages and special offers around five to six months ago but prospective bookings now face much higher rates. Vietnam this year is particularly doing well. Bhutan continues to attract attention as well. US visa holders find Albania more appealing since they receive visas upon arrival.
