UAE Engineer Transforms Dh3,000 Salary to Dh4.5 Million Business
Engineer Mohammed Al Najdi from Ajman serves as a source of inspiration. The Egyptian expatriate, aged 35, began earning a monthly salary of Dh3,000 when he initially came to the UAE. Six years later, he is currently managing a construction company with yearly contracts worth approximately Dh4.5 million.
Al Najdi, the owner of Al Maamar Al Najdi Construction Company, attributes his achievements to the fair opportunities provided in the country without any discrimination based on gender, race, color, or nationality.
Having graduated with a civil engineering degree from Mansoura University in Egypt, Al Najdi moved to the UAE in 2018. He expressed: "My friends informed me that this country is a place of opportunities which is why I decided to come here." It was an adventure of amazement and exploration, a plunge into the unfamiliar. "Then I landed a job."
As with all expatriates, Al Najdi encountered obstacles and had to adapt. He stated that despite both being Arab nations, the UAE and Egypt are divided by a water canal and possess distinct customs, traditions, laws, and regulations.
During the daytime, Al Najdi worked to make Dh3,000 per month, while in the evening he focused on studying the UAE engineering laws.
Regrettably, one year later, the company where he was employed ceased operations because of administrative issues. Al Najdi remained positive, believing that this was just the beginning of realizing his dream, not the end.
After being recognized for my hard work by a sheikh at my job, I quickly considered starting my own business. He called me and gave me the responsibility of carrying on the work at his palace and constructing. He proudly stated that the Sheikh supported him generously until he finished the work flawlessly and handed over the project.
During the following two years, Al Najdi remained determined to achieve his dream. He accumulated savings in order to reach his objective. Life was challenging, so I put in more effort to save over half of my income once I took care of my responsibilities and expenses. Furthermore, I had a family to take care of and wanted to ensure they had a comfortable life. Al Najdi mentioned that his family provided him with the most important moral and emotional support, which allowed him to keep striving for his goals and aspirations.
By facing numerous challenges and relocating between emirates, Al Najdi successfully built his own company from the ground up through persistence and self-reliance, without resorting to bank loans or other funding methods to achieve his goal.
He claimed that within just six months, there was clear improvement and swift expansion in the company. We demonstrated accuracy, excellence in work, and dedication to meeting deadlines - the crucial factors that distinguish us from rivals in the contracting and architectural industry.
His company offers different contracting services such as building villas, constructing buildings, interior and exterior foundation works, and decorating and finishing villas and residential units.
Currently, Al Najdi manages contracts totaling approximately Dh4.5 million each year. He has achieved his dream with the help of the country, which provides great support and assistance for all budding entrepreneurs to make their dreams come true, he stated.
Al Najdi stated that in the UAE, there are a multitude of important opportunities. Simply take advantage of the opportunities given by the government, regardless of whether you are Emirati or an expatriate.
