UAE driving license: 6 rules to reduce black points
Drivers in the UAE who adhere to all applicable traffic regulations on the initial day of the new school year may have four black points deducted from their records. Simply sign an online pledge with six points and make sure to avoid accidents on August 26 when numerous students return to school following the summer break.
What is the content of the pledge?
The commitment outlines six main traffic regulations.
I will keep a safe distance between my vehicle and the one ahead of me.
Pedestrians at crossings will be given priority by me.
I will continue to always wear my seatbelt.
I will follow the speed restrictions.
I will refrain from using a handheld cell phone while operating a vehicle.
I will yield to emergency vehicles, police cars, public service vehicles, and official convoys.
At what time will the discount be provided?
If all conditions are met, four black points will be automatically removed from your driving license on September 14. There's no need for any manual intervention as the process is seamless. Meeting these requirements helps drivers maintain a clean record and encourages safer driving practices across the UAE.
What occurs after one commits to the pledge?
Motorists will receive a participation certificate via email, confirming their compliance and successful completion of the black points reduction process, further enhancing their driving record.
What do black points refer to?
Serious traffic violations result in black points being imposed on motorists as penalties. The severity of the violation determines how many points are awarded. For instance, irresponsible driving could result in a fine of Dh2,000 and 23 black points. Not wearing a seatbelt while driving leads to a Dh400 penalty and accrual of four black points.
Receiving 24 penalties within one year will lead to the suspension of a driver's license.
What is the reason for the implementation of the initiative?
Brigadier Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi, who is the head of the Federal Traffic Council, stated that the goal of the campaign is to promote a mentality of safe driving. This joint endeavor is crucial for developing an accident-free traffic environment. Moreover, the program serves as a motivation to encourage following traffic safety rules throughout the entire year.
