UAE: Business penalized Dh10 million for falsely hiring 113 nationals
On Monday, authorities announced that a private company was penalized with a fine of Dh10 million for not adhering to the regulations and standards governing Emiratisation in the private sector. The Abu Dhabi Misdemeanour Court discovered that the company attempted to hire 113 citizens for fake positions.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre) discovered significant breaches in the company's Emiratisation processes, leading to the case being forwarded to the Abu Dhabi Public Prosecution for further examination.
It was revealed that the company provided fake job titles and work permits for employees who were not actually employed. The company abused the Nafis program by taking advantage of its benefits to increase Emiratis' involvement in private-sector employment.
The inquiry found that the company had inaccurately stated the hiring of UAE citizens in order to fulfill Emiratisation goals, which goes against the program's aims and rules.
The company was mandated by the Abu Dhabi Public Prosecution to be sent to the appropriate court. Upon examination of the case, the court delivered a verdict finding the company guilty of not adhering to Emiratisation policies and partaking in fictitious employment methods.
Nafis programme
The UAE is dedicated to upholding Emiratisation laws and providing legitimate job prospects for Emirati people in the private industry. The Nafis program aims to motivate Emiratis to consider employment opportunities in private companies.
Private companies in the nation must annually raise their Emirati employee percentage by two percent to achieve a minimum of 10 percent by 2026. This goal is split in half: 1 percent in the initial portion and 1 percent in the latter portion.
Beginning on July 1, the ministry has been inspecting companies to ensure they are following the rules. Individuals who do not reach the goal will be fined Dh48,000 for each Emirati not employed in the initial half of the year. Penalties accumulate each month a company fails to fill mandatory slots for UAE nationals, costing Dh8,000 per person per month. The monthly penalty rises by Dh1,000 annually.
Regular inspections are conducted to verify adherence. From mid-2022 to May 16 of this year, over 1,300 individuals were discovered breaking Emiratisation regulations.
Since the federal initiative was introduced in September 2021 to enhance Emiratis' job opportunities in the private sector, the number of Emirati employees has increased by about 170 percent.
