A bank in the UAE issued an apology to customers after receiving complaints regarding “fraudulent” error messages, which some of their clients received over the weekend.

One resident described how he experienced receiving late night debit messages from the Emirates NBD bank which “appeared to be an attempted fraud.” The irritated customer explained how he called the bank for assistance and was not attended to for close to an hour.

“Your so-called big bank doesn’t have customer care agents who can attend calls and after 45 to 60 minutes someone attended the call and apologised saying it was a technical error,” the customer reported.

The financial institution then explained that the message ‘RA DISB MIGRATION’ which customers complained about had been transmitted erroneously due to the ongoing system upgrade.

“Thank you for reaching out. If your call pertains to the SMS you received today ‘RA DISB MIGRATION’ please disregard the message from ENBD. It was sent in error during our system upgrade,” the bank stated.

The social media accounts of the bank have been inundated with complaints from customers regarding similar experiences with fraudulent transactions.

A different user offered his experience sharing, "Had the same. Incredibly stressful panic attack only to find out it’s a problem on the banks end.”

While apologizing for the inconvenience, the bank claimed that none of the customers' bank account balances were changed. Don’t worry. We appreciate you. We're really sorry for any disruption this may have done. That is so kind of you,” they concluded.
