Last Friday, a two-year-old boy died at his home in Sidrouh neighbourhood in old Ras Al Khaimah after he reportedly drowned in a bucket of water.

The boy, Abdullah Mohammed Mohammed Ali, a Pakistani national and the youngest of four siblings, was immediately taken to Saqr Government Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah. Other neighbours said medical personnel were called, but he was dead on arrival.

The incident took place when Abdullah crept into the kitchen, where a bucket filled with water had been left unattended. He eventually drowned in the bucket without anyone realizing until he was dead. His father was out at Friday prayers at the time.

The father told that the bucket was normally covered after his wife used it for washing the clothes, but that one time it was left uncovered.

The father of the child, Mohammed Mohammed Ali, said the incident took place during Friday prayers at their home on the Kuwaiti street, in the center of Ras Al Khaimah, behind the old directorate building.

Relatives of the family in both the UAE and Pakistan were mourning the death of the young boy who was 'apparently' their only child, with many exchanging vintage photographs on social media.
