Trump begins Middle East trip, arrives in Saudi Arabia on first international tour

On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump made his first international visit for the second term of his presidency, touring Saudi Arabia.  

Trump's itinerary will take Trump to Riyadh, Doha, and Abu Dhabi. After arriving in Riyadh on Tuesday, he will also make stops at Qatar and the UAE.  

With the White House claiming that he looked forward to a “historic return” to the region, this marks the US president’s first major visit abroad of his second term.  

In the days leading up to the trip, Trump’s circle shared with the American press the story of driving consensus around creating a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, releasing an American hostage in Gaza, and conducting another round of nuclear discussions with the Iranians.
