Spring arrives in UAE on March 11; longer days and rising temperatures ahead
The March equinox which signifies both equal day and night durations along with seasonal transition will happen on Tuesday in the UAE. The Emirates Astronomy Society reports that day and night will both be exactly 12 hours long on March 11 from sunset to sunrise.
March begins the spring season in which days become longer and warmer as we progress through each day of the month. The department announces that autumn will start in September.
The Emirates Astronomy Society Chairman Ibrahim Al Jarwan along with his membership in the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences shared details about upcoming astronomical happenings during his conversation with the Emirates News Agency (WAM). He highlighted the significance of the equal day and night phenomenon and mentioned two key upcoming events: The upcoming astronomical schedule includes both a total lunar eclipse and a partial solar eclipse.
The full lunar eclipse will happen between 05:09 and 08:48 UTC on March 14, 2025. The total lunar eclipse will line up with the full moon phase and spectators across the Americas will have the chance to view it. The UAE and Arabian Peninsula will not be able to view the event.
The lunar eclipse represents an important occasion for sky enthusiasts across the Americas who will be able to observe the full lunar spectacle. The event takes place during Ramadan which adds additional appeal to those who follow the lunar calendar.
The partial solar eclipse taking place on March 29, 2025 stands out as another major astronomical event. This eclipse will coincide with the birth of the new crescent moon for the month of Shawwal, which will occur at 14:58 UAE time on the same day. People in the northeastern region of North America along with several European locations and the North Pole will get a chance to see the partial solar eclipse. Observers in the UAE and the Arabian Peninsula will not be able to see the event.
