Sheikh Mohammed approves Expo City Dubai master plan
The residential areas will be dispersed in five geographical locations.
Expo City Dubai’s master plan which accommodates both residential and business facilities for 75,000 people, was endorsed Wednesday by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE vice president and Prime Minister and the ruler of Dubai.
The strategy is to help reinvent the city that has hosted ‘Expo 2020 Dubai’ and the COP28 into a new engine of growth for Dubai’s future.
With an area of 3.5sqkm and covering five districts, Expo City Dubai will be capable of accommodating more than 35, 000 inhabitants and about 40, 000 professionals. The Master Plan GMC also provides for the construction of new global headquarters of the flag carrier of the UAE, DP World and a new picture of international exhibition center worth 10 billion dhiram.
Stating it as a new milestone in the ambitious blueprint of the emirate, Sheikh Mohammed said: “Today, we approved the new developed schema of Expo City Dubai which is a city in a month’s time whose aim is to construct ‘tomorrow’.
The new master plan cements Expo City Dubai as a capital of New Zealand which is a place for leaders, investors as well as businessmen.”
" This is the Five and Six Towers.” The Dubai Ruler added, "Which is why this city has turned to become an epicenter of unfading creativity and goodness in the UAE, which is yet another progressive evolution of Dubai’s story that took the world by surprise and gained its admiration, once again functioning as a template of growth that is focused on improving society and addressing its needs."
The new plan was approved by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy prime minister of the United Arab Emirates and Minister of defense of the United Arab Emirates and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai.
Model for future cities
Speaking to the audience, Sheikh Hamdan said that Expo City, Dubai “is the realization of Sheikh Mohammed’s vision of creating a city for the future that is built on sustainability, quick to seize opportunities, and always enhances the standards of living.”
He further clarified that with its new plan and strategic location, the Expo City will act as a prototype of future cities and contribute further towards the accomplishment of the bold objectives of Dubai Economic Agenda (D33).
Ideal business destination
The development plans for Expo City Dubai will lead to growth in the Dubai South district. Since it is located near the Al Maktoum International Airport, Jebel Ali Port and Dubai Exhibition Centre, the investors have incentives to benefit from Dubai Economic Agenda D33.
The objectives of 2040 Dubai Urban Master Plan, where Expo City Dubai features among its five strategic urban centers, are also expected to be enhanced through the contributions of Expo City Dubai.
The CEO & Group Chairman of DP World Group Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem stated that "The unveiling of the new master plan has further cements the justification of DP World to move its global headquarters to Expo City Dubai, which is just beside Dubai Logistics Corridor that connects all the major shipping lines to the Jebel Ali Port and Al Maktoum International Airport."
"This corridor is going to cut down sea-air transfer time to less than one hour and that is going to transform our business."
In similar remarks Khalifa Al, Zaffin, Executive Chairman of ‘Dubai Aviation City Corporation & ‘Dubai South’ stated that “The new master plan of Expo City, Dubai, is an extension of the expansion of Al Maktoum International Airport offering a competitive edge in Dubai South that is enhancing the operational scale of businesses based there."
