Sharjah announces rules on conditional release of prisoners
Defamed prisoners in Sharjah can now be granted conditional release, as per a new ruling by the emirate’s Executive Council.
The ruling, made on Tuesday, specifies that an inmate may be paroled after serving three-quarters of the sentence. The release (though still containing constraints) might be set to go for a month or more.
They can get conditional release with a minimum 20 years of imprisonment if they have already spent some time in prison, the ruling stated.
In all cases, however, a decision concerning a conditional release of a prisoner will be made by the Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police. This will be informed to the emirate public prosecution.
