Saudi Arabia: List of items pilgrims need to avoid when travelling for Umrah
Dubai: The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah is asking pilgrims to check their luggage before departure to comply with travel regulations and prevent the inclusion of prohibited items that could disrupt their Umrah trip.
The ministry provided a public announcement that enumerated prohibited items such as fireworks, counterfeit money, unregistered medications, surveillance devices along with radar detectors, stun guns, laser pens, and hidden cameras.
The Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA) website (ZATCA.GOV.SA) provides a complete list of items that pilgrims should examine before their journey to maintain safety and avoid complications.
The ministry provided luggage rules for air passengers traveling to the Grand Mosque and asked them to steer clear of unconventional baggage options.
Travelers should not bring irregular-shaped bags that do not fit overhead compartments and should avoid fabric luggage carriers because they complicate handling. Travelers should avoid using excessively heavy luggage, oversized suitcases, and bags with long straps or excessive buckles since these items can create transportation difficulties.
The ministry advised travelers to contact airlines before leaving to verify baggage rules and avoid travel hold-ups.
