Residents in the UAE are experiencing cracked walls and jammed doors due to increased humidity during the summer
Dubai resident Noora T. is currently replacing her damaged refrigerator due to the rising humidity in the country.
She mentioned that upon waking up in the morning, the fridge wasn't working properly, resulting in all her food going bad. I hired a technician to inspect it and he mentioned that the damage was a result of the high humidity levels in my home. One of the air conditioner units in my home was also damaged due to the moisture.
Noora is among many citizens nationwide facing home damages caused by the excessively high humidity. Over the past few days, humidity levels have exceeded 80 percent in various regions of the nation.
Despite temperatures hovering around 40 degrees, the National Centre of Meteorology reported a relative humidity of 70-95% in coastal and island regions and 70-90% in inland areas.
The Emirati stated that she had never experienced such a problem before. She mentioned that there has been construction at her house, resulting in a frequent flow of people entering and exiting the house. I am unsure if that is causing the problem. I have already requested a new fridge and AC, and I also bought a dehumidifier to prevent future occurrence.
A split in the wall
The humidity caused a crack in the wall of Mohammed Iqbal. "He mentioned that he resides in a flat close to Satwa and the high humidity has resulted in a crack appearing on his wall." This led to the big wall mirror falling down. Fortunately, my sofa was there to prevent the mirror from cracking.
Overview from residents:
The expatriate from Bangladesh mentioned that he has resided in the flat for more than 12 years and this is the initial instance he has encountered such a problem. He commented that he believes this summer in the UAE has been one of the worst in his twenty years due to the high humidity and heat. Water is dripping from my false ceiling all day long. I have placed buckets and clothes all over the house to prevent puddles from forming inside. Occasionally, water flows out of the ceiling.
Another foreign resident, Mehnaz A., mentioned that both the entrance door and the gate of her Jumeirah residence had gotten stuck since the start of summer this year. She stated that it is necessary to apply both force and technique in order to open the door. We have requested the landlord's assistance in repairing it, but he is currently away, so we must wait for his return.
A caution has been issued by experts stressing the significance of frequent maintenance of air-conditioning units in the high temperatures.
Remraam resident Hiba Sakkir noticed something was amiss when she received an unusually high electricity bill. She mentioned that the humidity levels were elevated while the air conditioning cooling was limited. Our electricity bill was exceedingly expensive as well. Water was falling down from the ceiling. In the end, we arranged for a technician to inspect our AC vents. We reside near a construction area and it seems our AC filter has gathered dust. After the maintenance team cleaned it, everything returned to its normal state.
