Paid parking to be introduced in Dubai International City

From next month, it will no longer be free for Dubai International City residents or visitors to park their cars.

In a notice pasted by authorities at International City, it said paid parking charges would be in force at the neighborhood starting from 1st February, 2026.

Meters have not yet been placed in the community, but parking signs reading "Paid Parking" in some parts of the community such as France and China clusters were installed.

The rates including signs will be imposed at Dubai International City (Code Q) from 8am till midnight.

The starting tariff is Dh2 for 30 minutes and it will cost residents up to Dh25 for a time period of 16 hours, based on the available information about charges on the Parkin website.

More parking for residents, visitors

Parking is a big headache to all residents and guests of the International City particularly during evening and night.

Residents are not the only ones who use parking spaces in the city, since rent-a-car companies and a lot of small trucking companies park their vehicles here as well.International City is one of the cheapest areas for renting property in the emirate so they take advantage.

“Lemme tell you, it is seriously hard for me to find a parking spot at night because I leave in the morning and come back at night. “With the introduction of paid parking fare, more area will be available for free parking for residents upon return from work,” said Waqas Khan, who is in the delivery business.

Parking is still free in International City; there are just a few big communities like this.

Najam Ahmed, an International City apartment owner who rented the unit out to move his family to Al Qusais because of parking and how close his children’s schools are.

“Parking is definitely one of the reasons I chose to move to Al Qusais. As a businessman, I am likely to come home at about 10-11 Pm. By that time, it is nearly impossible to find a parking space. Oh, and I have three cars because of my personal and work needs. “Now with the paid parking fees in International City, I feel like moving into my own flat because now at least I can park over there,” added Ahmed.

Paid parking Parkin Company, the most famous paid public car park service provider in Dubai from last two years introduced paid parking community by community.

It came after the Dubai-listed company introduced paid parking zones in International Academic City and Sports City last month, just days after adding two more new similar zones at Studio City and Outsource City.

On 4 April 2025, Parkin enacted the Variable Parking Tariff Policy in Dubai comprising peak and off-peak tariffs to manage parking in crowded, high-density/ -demand areas creating a balance between parking facility demand and supply by providing for turnover of parking assets complementing efficient traffic flows city-wide especially during peak hours.

There will be peak pricing for 6 out of the 14 chargeable hours per day (8am – 10 am and 4pm -8 pm, excluding Sundays, and public holidays.. Off-peak tariffs (10-4 and 8-10) would be carried through unchanged but rebased on the current tariff structure.
