Over 50% UAE employees feel overwhelmed by change
As per the finding of the survey, only 35 percent expressed that they actually rely on their manager while dealing with change at the workplace.
According to the results of a new survey made public by LinkedIn, it is stress inducing for UAE employees, as more than half – 55 per cent – of professionals are of the opinion that they are lagging behind in competition and due to the fact that changes are fast occurring in the workplace.
The study revealed that around 7 out of 10, which is 68 percent of the professionals in the UAE, were found to be feeling exhausted with the ever changing environment at the workplace, with 89 percent of them complaining about the need to be helped in the process of adjustment.
The UAE and other developed regions are facing radical transitions in the working environment and work culture change as a consequence of technological advancement such as artificial intelligence (AI), managing generations of people, the rise of the remote workforce, generative AI taking over some work and paperwork being replaced with files in the computer.
“Changes at the place of work, in the past few years or so, could be thoroughgoing — from working patterns to the adoption of AI technologies. So it’s not surprising that the majority of the target respondents feel that it is too much for them and that they are going to be left behind.
It follows as a matter of necessity that as much as the workers may want change, it will be important for them to digest the current information, acquire more knowledge and keep hoping with these little but parts changing environments will provide them situations that they can be successful,” went on Najat Abdalhadi, LinkedIn Tulay Head of Talent Solutions Mena.
He also motivates the employees to be in the job-hunting mode every now and then, but not because they are available for a new position but in order to be more proficient.
Workers around the country are dealing with three important facets, as the study says – first, how to prove that AI can be worked into these processes, second, how to run a multi-generational team of employees, and third, how to effectively perform office work.
Within that time, LinkedIn posts that included the keyword ‘flexible work’ were tallied over which the temporal span was September 2022 and September 2024.
It also showed that in these two years there was 123 per cent growth in posts with the flexible work related content on LinkedIn globally, a subject that still occupies professionals as more and more companies are growing back to office computing.
Experience alone isn’t enough
LinkedIn’s survey went on to show that even 53 percent of UAE professionals, who are fully employed, do accept the fact that experience alone will not pull them through, whereby 40 percent of this segment add that without learning and acquiring new knowledge, it is very difficult winning in today’s competitive environment, and 56 per cent claim they do not know what required skills will assist to manage change in the workplace.
While the understanding of the necessity to acquire skills has seen an improvement, 35 percent of respondents state that they can depend on their manager to help when things are changing in the workplace, and 58 per cent suggest that their company does not meet the demands of all the changes that have occurred with regard to work, showing that the contemporary worker is overwhelmed and requires more assistance in the direction in which to move than ever before.
Career experts at LinkedIn instructed professionals to constantly seek out news and the opinions of trustworthy individuals provided the necessary resources, in real life knowing how such clear first telecom transactions would work in every upcoming day.
The professionals mentioned that it is understandable to feel anxious about change, but they also indicated that change has to be embraced. “Change is very possible: That much, everyone agrees. You just need willingness to learn the facts that help you in societal transition.
Take AI, for example. For example, writing prompts, or if you’re in a meeting letting an AI tool take notes. These will make mastering such tools much easier in the future.”
