New Year's Eve in Dubai: Prices go up to Dh12,000 for front seat view of Burj Khalifa
New Year’s Eve is just over a month away, and bookings for tables at restaurants with view of the Burj Khalifa have started to pour in. Some restaurants have a luxury-table-booking fee of Dh12,000 and others offer the first-come-first-serve scheme.
The other table at the premium dinner is being billed at Dh12,000 per person and will be served Günaydin restaurant in Souq Al Bahar. The package comes with food off of a set menu and champagne for the table. From the table, party-goers will have a straight-on view of the Burj Khalifa fireworks. Other packages at the restaurant start at Dh5,000 for indoor seating and are priced up to Dh8,500 for outdoor tables.
Fire, light and laser show At the stroke of midnight each New Year’s Eve, hundreds flock to the Dubai Mall and its surrounding areas for an iconic show of lasers, lights and fireworks that transforms Burj Khalifa’s LED display and Dubai Fountain into a pyrotechnic symphony.
Others wait 12 hours or longer in order to beat the crowds. Street closure around the mall start as early as 4 pm to help authorities properly manage the traffic of people.
Another restaurant at Souq Al Bahar, The Meat Co, has a four-course festive menu from 7pm. Those in the lower terrace area overlooking Burj Khalifa and partial view of the Dubai fountain must spend a minimum of Dh5,000 per menu. Guests sitting on the upper terrace and inside will have to pay a minimum of Dh4,000 and Dh3,000 respectively.
DJ party, unlimited food
(A few restaurants at Dubai Mall are selling seats at their eatery for multiple charge points. At the Indian restaurant Mausum, the tables nearest to the edge of an outdoor terrace will be Dh5,000 per person.
The meal will include amuse bouche, starters, main courses served platter-style to share, bread (homemade) and desserts. A DJ will be spinning tunes through the night in the build up to New Year. Other tables at the restaurant will be priced between Dh3,000 and Dh4,000.
At Five Guys, diners can reserve a gold table — meaning an outdoor table with views of the tallest tower in the world — for Dh2,200 per person. The package includes free flowing burgers, sides, and shakes all evening. Indoor seating is available for Dh1,900. Children under 10 years of age are half price.
TGI Friday will have special tables outside of their regular seating area so guests can watch the fireworks. Diners will pay Dh3,000 for a seat at the table. A regular outdoor terrace seat is priced at Dh2,499 per person.
Prices at Nando’s restaurant will start from Dh5,000 per head for outdoor seating.
First come, first serve
Meanwhile, at restaurants such as Public and Salt strategically positioned in the mall — it also has plans to open Le Pain Quotidien — customers will be served on a first-come-first-serve basis, although no minimum spend or reservation system have yet been established. “You know, on New Year’s night we’re going to call them up four hours before they come,” said a server. “We will let them know if we have a spot.”
There will be free public viewing spaces for spectators in and around the Downtown Dubai area on a first-come, first-served basis. The live fireworks and entertainment will also be broadcast on LED screens along Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard.
Emaar today revealed an eight-day New Year spectacle that will run from December 31 until January 7. For Dhs997, those who wish to take front row seats can buy tickets for Burj Park. 5 for adults and Dh577. 50 for 5- to 12-year-olds.
