Nominations to be thoroughly reviewed

In a common notification issued to the school principals, the education regulator of the emirates said that they are using the ‘golden opportunity’ to require ‘schools (to) nominate outstanding educators from your (their) school that meet the eligibility criteria.' The KHDA also advised the schools to form an ‘internal committee to furnish the requirements.’

Richard John Drew, Principal, Jumeira Baccalaureate School said, ‘Taaleem has assisted its schools with the understanding of the “Criteria” so that staff can look at this and make up their mind regarding an application. If it concerns any staff member who seeks to apply, such information will be sent to the Principal who will determine whether the application is forwarded.’

This process, which commenced on October 5 and is unique to teachers in the private education sector, aims to honor those who have practiced and actively participated in helping define the future of Dubai through teaching and learning.

He said, “The employees have been provided with an FAQ that makes it easier for them to ascertain if they have the right requirements for a successful application. The FAQs are to the point and staff has reported that they have been quite useful.”

The candidates will be evaluated against the criteria set by the Headteachers but pupils are still using appraisal documents of the past years as well as their classroom performance to evaluate the teachers’ eligibility.

“I have had five staff whose primary interest has already been Definition of the Whole Cookie -13781989- I. However, even though it is early in the process, I think staff are eager to consider this opportunity of applying for this,” grew.

HR policies being reviewed

The schools were also adamant that their nominations processes were also in consonance with those of KHDA, and hence there is quality assured.

“Taking into account achievements of the educators of our school is largely a new approach. This is important because it helps to identify teachers who meet the requirements of KHDA rather, whose characteristics sell the school vision and goals for global impact,” said Sangita Chima, Amity School Dubai Principal.

Legal steps are being taken by the institutions to appeal to the Golden Visa nomination process and policies provided by the education regulator.

“Any such amendments implemented as soon as possible will include a clear definition of the evaluation criteria for candidacy for the award, forms of defining successful candidates, as well the awardees with respect to the overall award strategy,” she added.

Many 'keen to apply'

School heads also remarked that there is an “exciting buzz” among the education community because they were the ones who disseminated the KHDA notification.”

Chima said, “We’ve already received several inquiries from them such that it is evident a lot of them want to know about the nomination process and what the Golden Visa offers. It is amazing the kind of enthusiasm across people.”

School leaders also emphasized that the screening of the ‘candidates’ will revolve around “meeting all aspects” of the eligibility criteria only.

Menon Sheela, who is the Principal of Ambassador School in Dubai said, “The documentation for International founding members will be reviewed by an internal committee constituted of Executive members of the school governing body who will submit only compliant applications to the KHDA e-Services system that will be opened for submission on October 15, 2024.”

She added, “Many teachers are willing to make an application. As the requirements have very clearly been laid out in the documents, that it does not appear that there are many questions at this time. Teachers have been asked to go around and get the documents in relation to it.
