New alternative to cola? Saudi introduces date-based drink with no added sugar
Do you love cola? Is there anything better than the cold can of the sweet drink in the summertime? Do you wish to avert cola’s sugar death and health problems related to it?
The answer can be "Milaf Cola". A Saudi company has come out with a new product that will quench thirst, and it will taste like cola but without sugar.
Milaf Cola is now available under the products of Thurath Al-Madina, which is owned by the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) with official opening ceremony given by the Saudi Minister of Agriculture.
"Thrurath Al-Madina wants to diversify date products at home and abroad under the Milaf brand," the company said on X.
"Also in the pipeline is partnerships with Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, and the National Centre for Palms and Dates, to expand dates as nutritious foods worldwide," it continued.
The product launched at the Riyadh Date Festival is expected to soon launch in Saudi. Eng. Thurath Al-Madina CEO Bandar Al-Qahtani spoke of the company’s goal to enhance the price of Saudi dates, create demand abroad and produce wholesome goods.
Date production has outstripped the kingdom’s demand, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture said, having exceeded 1.6 million tons per year. This is a product of the expansion of palm production on 165,000 hectares.
