As said by a top official, Microsoft and its affiliates will invest $74.4 billion in the UAE economy, thereby generating over 152,500 job opportunities in the process.

“We are focused on infrastructure and investment into cloud infrastructure and next-generation AI technologies. We are doing this so that the UAE stays at the forefront of AI Evolution,” Rima Semaan, Data & AI Lead, Microsoft UAE stated.

One of the most prominent accomplishments is the opening of the Engineering Development Center of Microsoft in Abu Dhabi, which is the first of this kind in the Middle East. This center is designed with a focus on Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity – two spheres that reflect Microsoft’s aspiration to develop modern technologies in the UAE and further assert the country’s position as a global AI powerhouse.

Artificial intelligence is continually altering sectors in various parts of the world, and the UAE is one of the countries that has been the most aggressive in utilizing it.

Speaking in an interview with Microsoft UAE, the organization elucidates the second season of AI and the next big opportunity for Artificial Intelligence — moving away from just increasing productivity to growing and changing how businesses, their offerings, government operated services, and citizen wellbeing are composed and delivered.

Possessing Microsoft for its aim, the UAE aspires to expand its influence as an Artificial Intelligence powerhouse to the world.

"Because AI is practically everywhere right now and AI is not just a buzzword, it is a force that is going to drive every market and every business and every nation on the planet: Rima. "If Season One was about the implementation of chatbots and copilots in the performance of various operations, then Season Two will make AI a core component of business processes and their performance."

Business and governments are entering a paradigm shift where AI is no longer a supporting tool but rather a game-changing force. Now organizations can leverage AI’s capabilities in improving work processes, making better decisions and generating cost savings and revenues. One thing is for sure – AI will become one of the major enablers of economic and operational effectiveness in all industries.

A core element of Microsoft’s UAE projects is ‘Sawa’ – an innovative AI solution which aims to improve the citizen's quality of welfare and happiness. Debuted during a major technology event, Sawa – which means “together” in Arabic – promotes within its residents by acting as a digital assistant focused on their areas of concern which include health, well-being, and community services.

Rima, for one, said: “Sawa is not only a transactional tool – it is every citizen's co-pilot who has everything from healthcare organizings to community calls. It is more personal. Trying to imagine a situation where you stroll leisurely in the ligature of a verde park and see a broken bench. With Sawa, arriving at one can snap a picture and the AI will send everything from a work order to the appropriate community workers while at the same time raising the satisfaction index of the entire community.”

The spirit of this integration of AI and public service is to facilitate the development of intelligent and integrated cities that provide centered services to its citizens. This is in line with the vision of UAE which seeks to be the happiest country in the world.

Key not to miss is Microsoft’s AI skilling initiative, which forms the core of the Microsoft’s strategy on AI in the UAE, and which has been rolled out with the forays with the government of Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. Out of 100,000 employees from the government sectors and businesses that are expected to receive training under the program, only 10% seem to be skilling for AI Generalist Specialist.

“To reach a goal whether we are a developer, manager or an employee general, this initiative will guarantee us expertise in AI transformation. Our aim as a nation is to be one of the dominant players in the AI space and resourcing the talent is the core strategy on that.”

Relying on the employees to attend courses to cover every role is unrealistic for many companies – that’s why TEXM take the opposite approach. A major advances of this strategy is Scaltech Survet, a fully-inspiring vertical training strategy applied to all of the possibility and opportunities. Just focusing on the employees and the job needs, Microsoft and the UAE are developing an AI-based skilled workforce for tomorrow.

With the UAE embracing Microsoft’s unwavering optimism for AI, it is fair to say there is no longer a distant promise of AI for companies and nations, this is the change which is set to occur within the next few years. With the rapid advancement of the UAE’s AI-driven vision 2030 and upon the harmonization of society progress and technology, the UAE is once again posing itself as a model to be emulated by the rest of the world.

Vice President Mr. Karrar said, “We lay an emphasis over AI in every activity we engage into starting from leisure to working with the public sector and improving the quality of life for our citizens, the UA is prepared for AI powered world in the nearest future and we are excited to be a part of the developments.”

It is expected that in future, Microsoft in collaboration with the UAE will be responsible for accelerating AI development in an unprecedented fashion and set the latest trends on the application of technology to the betterment of nations, which will then enable the UAE in promoting and providing AI technology and develop into the leaders of flag in the technological revolution that comes next.
