‘Limitless Horizons’ is the theme for the India Global Forum, which is being held in Dubai for Middle East & Africa 2024 (ME&A 2024). It is a two-day conference attended by over 1,000 people and 200 speakers including leaders from India as well as the Middle East and Africa.
Keynote Addresses
Goyal has indeed delivered a pre-recorded message, and he has also seemed to appreciate the strong ties shared between both India and the UAE. According to Goyal, the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) he highlighted has helped unlock trade worth $85 billion annually. He urged the participants to work together towards India’s Vision 2047 and the UAE Vision 2071.
Strengthening Bilateral Ties
In a recent statement, Indian envoy to the UAE, Sunjay Sudhir, expressed pleasure over the speedy development between the countries. He called their relationship a ‘corridor of trade, technology, talent and trust.’ CEPA, the US-UAE bilateral free trade agreement, was, according to Sudhir, signed in just 88 days, which signifies strong mutual trust.
Sanjay Sudhir, the Co-Chairman of the Middle East Global Forum, believes trade is not the only area of focus between India-UAE relations. He mentioned the goal of their forum is to carry forward the momentum into tangible gains for the region. He underlined and called for joint efforts in addressing issues like poverty and climate change.
Recent Developments
The fourth edition of the forum is taking place at quite an important juncture when it comes to India’s bilateral relations with the UAE. New developments include a new Bilateral Investment Treaty as well as an agreement on civil nuclear cooperation. The UAE has now become India's third most important trading partner with two-way trade amounting to 83.65 billion dollars in 2023-2024.
ME&A 2024 also deals with some of the most critical issues of the time. Climate change, COVI, digital revolution, and green deal are some of them. The purpose of the event is to try to foster cooperation and collaboration between policy makers and innovators, industrialists. It signifies India’s growing stature on the world map.
