Dubai International Airport (DXB) always must prioritize the safety and well-being of its passengers. From dealing with medical emergencies to lending a hand, their swift action and caring attitude have often saved the day.

In fact, recently, DXB took to its social media handle and shared a video explaining how the traffic marshals Balraj Singh and Adarsh Chandran came forward and helped a passenger in medical distress at Terminal 1.

Yet, at Area 3 during his shift, Balraj was alerted of a passenger struggling to walk which is when he spontaneously rushed to help him/her. On coming closer, he found the individual was gasping for air — he alarmed the team leader that medical assistance needed to be called out.

Adarsh said that the passenger appeared to be suffering from a major discomfort and was holding his chest. The two marshals had quickly vacated the area allowing room for the guest and also some privacy by wafting the crowd away with charm. Sources stated that they cordoned the spot and stayed with him till the medical assistance arrived.

Speaking about the incident, Balraj said he had tried his best to assist the passengers "so that they go home from Dubai Airport with a happy face". Adarsh told the media, "If you look into this incident, you see multiple departments involved -- Dubai Police, DXB medical team, dnata admin staff -- different department staff but here we worked shoulder to shoulder (to help).

Duty officer (terminal operations, customer service delivery) Ahmed Abdulb also came to the aid. He watched a man running then wobbling at the terminal, freaking out. When we went over to investigate what had happened. His brother said, "This is the fifth time we've been to the airport. We book the ticket, do the check-in, complete every single formality but as soon as we near to the immigration he freaks out and refuses to travel saying he cannot breath. Its just like, its not that no one doesnt want to travel', he keeps on saying, 'I dont want to book'."

Ahmed realized that fear and anxiety were causing this breathing problem. The reaction & feeling was psychological not physiological, that was the most challenging part: to help him with that & to make sure he knew he was indeed safe.

"We wanted to provide some reassurance, to help him de-escalate and to feel safe and in control. Hospitality means to me to make any impossible thing, possible; to do whatever it takes to make the passenger satisfied and happy to make sure they remember us as something that they would like to repeat.

The passenger's brother later messaged Ahmed to say thank him for his help and that they made it home safely. "I see all guests as family. This makes me want to pitch in, assist, and do whatever it takes to maintain the smooth running of things and fix any challenge.

Dubai Police managed to return a traveller's bag with more than Dh25,000 cash to its owner within 30 minutes after tracking him down at Dubai International Airport in February.

Egyptian traveller Munir Said Ibrahim picked up another passenger's suitcase from the baggage conveyor belt because it looked similar to his suitcase and even the colour was almost same. Munir, who was in a hurry, having only an hour to catch a flight to take him to China, believed it had been a mistake and went to the airport police office in the arrivals hall.

The on-duty officer submitted a report that eventually formed a task force that followed Munir from the moment he entered the airport. They checked CCTV and made inquiries with Emirates Airlines, the carrier he used to travel from Cairo.

The inquiry showed that Munir had exchanged his bag with an Egyptian female passenger who was still in the airport hallways for her relatives. Unaware of the switch, she was shocked when police came to her house, explained what happened, and handed her the bag back.

In 2018, a Dubai Airport employee saved a first-time Pakistani visitor from a heart attack who collapsed at the airport.

Talal Al Hubeishi was the operations officer who knew to give Mohammed Sadiq a life-saving offer. Talal saw the passenger lying on the floor, passed out, and instantly sprang into action doing CPR until paramedics arrived, needed to be revived.
