Dubai: In a bid to direct passengers meticulously across the crowd-jammed terminals of Dubai International Airport (DXB) ahead of the peak holiday season, Dubai Airports has introduced a new real-time navigation tool – DXB Express Maps.
The DXB Express Maps is intelligent wayfinding solution that enables real-time navigation throughout all terminals. Passengers can simply scan a QR code from any of the flight information screen to find their gates, explore the food and shopping, or find nearby facilities.
Arrival of DXB Express Maps as DXB prepares for a holiday season "like no other", over 3.6 million (total) guests are expected to arrive through the airports terminals over the Eid travel peak from 26 March to 7 April. April 5, Saturday, is expected to be the busiest day of the period with 309,000 travellers.
Daily cumulative traffic is expected to be around 276000 passengers with the steepest increase expected in the first week of April. Dubai Airports also predicted a spike in departures this week leading up to Eid, expecting it to be 19 per cent more than average weekly volumes over the past month and showing another notable seasonal uplift.
As major school holiday periods end, the demand is consistent with critical VFR countries like India, Pakistan and the UK and a surge in leisure travel, especially to destinations like Sri Lanka, Türkiye and Italy.
Dubai Airports has also introduced improved services for People of Determination (PoD) and designated accessibility paths. The airport's passenger traffic surpassed 92.3 million last year -- the highest in history -- and the world-dubbed busiest international ciy expects to serve more than 94 million passengers by 2025.
