The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is expected to implement Variable Road Toll Pricing (Salik) and Variable Parking Tariff Policies which will include increased toll and parking fees during events. The purpose of the initiative is to ensure that traffic and parking in different areas within the city is well managed in accordance with the RTA’s overall urban mobility management framework. By changing the charges of the tolls and parking fees, the RTA aims to make travel more efficient and access for the local populace and tourists easy.

The Variable Road Toll Pricing (Salik) system is expected to commence in late January 2025 and will enable motorists to travel between 1am and 6am without being charged toll fees.

On workdays, the toll fees will be set at Dh 6 charged during the morning between 6 am to 10 am and evening hours from 4 pm to 8pm. The toll charges for off-peak hours during 10 am – 4 pm and 8 pm to 1 am will be at Dh 4. Every Sunday except for the public holidays and special or significant events, the toll fees will be set at Dh 4 during the day and free from 1 am until 6 am.

It is proposed that the Variable Parking Tariff Policy, which is to be instituted by March 2025, will charge Dh6 an hour for premium parking spaces and dh4 an hour for other public paid parking spaces in the two peak areas from 8am to 10 am and 4pm to 8pm. The tariffs shall, however, remain the same in the off-peak hours that are between 10am to 4pm and between 8pm to 10pm. From 10pm to 8am, parking will be charged the next day at no charge, and all day Sunday all day.

Congestion pricing policy

Dubai's Congestion Pricing Policy is also planning a Dh25 per hour charge for public paid parking spaces close to event zones. This solution is expected to help manage parking demand and control traffic flow within major events. The policy is expected to commence in February 2025 and has its maiden rollout set for the Dubai World Trade Centre vicinity, increasing accessibility and efficient parking for patrons while enhancing Dubai's overall urban mobility plan.

Bye for now as I need to make my way into Dubai because there is a lot to look forward to with flexible Salik tolls and parking charges which will be introduced in 2025. For the most recent information, follow Just Dubai!
