Dubai students to get unprecedented access to top Indian universities like AIIMS, IIMA

DUBAI: Soon, students in Dubai will be able to get admissions into premier Indian educational institutions such as All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Indian Institute of Management (IIM) and Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), after agreements were signed during the first India visit of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.
This was followed by signing a deal with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) — one of the leading medical institutes in the South Asian country — to provide students from Dubai Medical University (DMU) with an exchange programme in India.
The agreement was signed between Yahya Saeed Lootah, Vice Chairman of the Board of DMU, and Ahamadulla Shariff, Head of the Department of Anatomy at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi, to enhance academic and research cooperation.
Dr Shariff told them the program would be starting this year. He said, "At first, some posting of DMCG students will be done temporarily also to be observers along with our students at AIMS Delhi. Some of our teachers might come back as visiting teachers for a limited time according to demand, it said.
Sheikh Hamdan's visit to the country, during which he was hosted by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, came on the heels of a short two-day trip, during which landmark agreements have been signed, contributing to enhancing joint cooperation between the two countries.
Denis Lefrancois, advisor to the chairman of S.S. The Lootah group said: "This is a huge opportunity for our students. It is going to be a great experience for our students, with the history and the great experience they have, the skills, facilities that they have, the number of patients that they see, and the number of students that go through the institution," she said.
All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS is a group of public medical universe in India.) The latest of these was set up in New Delhi in 1956, and there are now 20 such universities operating with at least a further three expected in the next few years. Regarded as one of the best medical college in India,AIIMS collectively admit more than 2,000 students every year.
Specific areas for collaboration will depend on mutual interest and include bilateral joint research on priority areas such as infectious diseases, metabolic diseases, and climate change and global health initiatives. The agreement also establishes a mechanism for the exchange of academic materials and research publications. The agreement also includes collaboration with AIIMS in areas of artificial communication, research and development and digital transformation in medical education and health.
Top business schools
Part of this is the signing of an MoU by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) in conjunction with the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA)–one of Asia's premier business schools and India's top-ranked business school–to develop a world-class IIMA campus in Dubai.
The IIMA Dubai Campus will be developed in two phases and is intended to be a global centre of excellence catering to the larger Middle East, Africa and Central Asia region. Under its first phase, IIMA will be provided with its space in the Dubai International Academic City (DIAC) at which the institute plans to offer its One-Year Full-Time MBA Programme in the near future.
The second phase will allocate land to IIMA for a permanent campus and is expected to be functional by 2029.
The MoU was signed by Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and Bharat Bhasker, Director of IIMA and will aid the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 by nurturing business leadership talent and helping to develop a competitively positioned innovation ecosystem in the emirate.
