Dubai starts construction of first air taxi station near DXB

Construction of the first air taxi station nears completion as the first phase of the work on the station was commenced on Tuesday by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister. 


“We are expanding Dubai's air transport system facilities and today we have begun work on the construction of the first aerial taxi vertiport inside the city airport’s vicinity,” Sheikh Hamdan shared on X. 


‘The 3100 sqm facility is expected to record a staggering 42,000 takeoff and landings with 170,000 passengers per year passing through airports with. Dubai’s initial phase consists of Downtown, Dubai Marina and Palm Jumeirah with features expected by 2026. What's more amazing is Dubai's commitment to transform the city for transportation on a global scale’, he further stated. 


About 4 taxi stations are in the offing which are slated for a commercial launch by 2026. Operations of the initial taxi station are anticipated to commence in the first quarter of 2026. 


The passengers will have a totally different and entirely new experience of air taxis as they will be flying above Dubai to reach their desired locations. The transport fleets have been expanded by these air taxi stations which are still under construction.
