Dubai's Ruler declared the fifth instalment of the "Hope Maker's" contest which honours people based on their humanitarian contribution to the community on Sunday.

Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum took to social media to specify the qualification criteria for each participant, and to invite individuals to nominate themselves and others to be the ‘hope maker’.

‘The human being lives with hope and societies live in life because of hope. What’s hardest is a little easier under hope. If someone makes dismal and hopeless things go around in our country, we make hopeful and hopeful things go around," the ruler wrote.

‘There are persons in every village and city who have worked so hard to make a hope for their societies, to make a goodness for their nations and for the people of their neighbours. We look for them so that we can remember them, celebrate them, and set examples for all of us. "Gracefully we begin a new generation of ‘Hope Makers’, looking for them in every village, every community, every neighbourhood to honor them and give people hope," Sheikh Mohammed continued.

The qualifications are as follows:

  • Real world experience: The candidate should have worked in any kind of humanitarian/community service.

  • Competencies: The person has to have a bright mind.

  • Language: It is imperative that the individual be able to speak, read and write the language of giving.

"Anyone, who thinks that someone or others is good may suggest themselves or others on the web site http://arabhopemakers.com" — according to the Ruler.

"We pray to God that He would always lead us in bringing hope, happiness and the hope of the brighter future to our region which is hurting a lot" said the head.

The organiser posted a touching video of past recipients who did so much good in the world.
