Dubai: Sheikh Hamdan announces Gitex to move to Expo City in 2026
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai announced that the preparations have begun for the relocation of Gitex and Expand North Star, to the event’s new permanent home at Expo City Dubai, next year.
Opening a new chapter in its history, the event will be held from 7-11 December 2026, Sheikh Hamdan also instructed the hosting of the world’s first and largest ‘TechCation’ experience at the event, with a citywide activations that brings together technology and lifestyle in one fusion.
The relocation will help the event support the vision of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and establish Dubai as one of the world’s top three urban economies.
Celebrating 45 years of firmly establishing Dubai and the UAE as a global leader on the technology world map, Gitex will help reshape the global calendar for international technology events, with an edition in 2026, that will introduce a new dimension to innovation, business and lifestyle experiences.
Dubai’s next-generation destination of technology, creativity and discovery, TechCation will make its global debut at the event, further cementing Dubai’s status as a leading global destination — recognized once again by its number one ranking in Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Destinations Awards 2024.
Set to be held in December next year, the event will be at the centre of Dubai’s bustling tourism season. The timing will provide an additional opportunity for international technology executives and investors in the city, to discover Dubai’s unique social and cultural calendar, in the backdrop of their business trips for more immersive and extended visits.
GITEX TechCation has been planned in line with the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, with the ambition of the city to be among the world’s top three urban economies by 2033.
