Dubai Police to use radars to monitor tailgating, issue fines
The Dubai Police department plans to implement radar systems for detecting tailgating infractions and penalize offenders with fines.
Police awareness programs aimed to teach drivers to maintain safe following distances from vehicles ahead. According to a police spokesperson, warnings were the only response before. “Now there will be fines.”
Authorities acknowledged a rising number of this violation which prompted this response. The penalties for tailgating include a Dh400 fine together with four black points on your licence. The police announced last year they would seize vehicles for a maximum of 30 days when drivers committed multiple traffic violations such as tailgating.
