Dubai Police arrest 10 street vendors for selling food without licence during Ramadan
The Dubai Police captured ten illegal street vendors who distributed food products in public places in violation of safety standards. The vendors operated without proper licenses or health standards which introduced possible dangers to the community.
The authorities arrested the vendors during their Ramadan campaign initiative. The authorities pointed out that these activities break safety rules while damaging the city’s image through the creation of unregulated marketplaces along public roads and alleys.
Dubai Police alongside partner authorities enforce public safety through crackdowns on illegal vendors as stated by Colonel Ahmad Al Adeedi who leads the Suspects and Criminal Phenomena Department at the General Department of Criminal Investigation.
Colonel Al Adeedi warned vendors who operate without proper authorization near labour accommodations attract customers by selling food products in unhygienic conditions.
The public should purchase food products from authorised businesses instead of buying from unlicensed street vendors or food-selling vehicles in public areas to maintain food quality and safety.
Health risks
Major Talib Al Amiri who leads the Street Vendors Control Section warned about the significant health dangers linked to eating food sold by unregulated vendors and unlicensed vehicles. He noted that products sold from these sources are frequently kept in unsanitary conditions which results in product spoilage and creates risks of foodborne diseases.
Dubai Police will maintain their intensified patrols 24/7 and will collaborate with partner entities to find and capture violators.
