Dubai flights: Emirates closes first-class check-in area at DXB for upgrade
Emirates airline has suspended operations in a portion of its first-class check-in area at Dubai International Airport (DXB) for several months. Passengers will be able to "step through private doors" and check in directly from the high-end private lounge, Dubai's flagship carrier said when it reopens.

“Our first-class check-in area at Dubai International Airport will be closed temporarily until June 2025 while we develop a brand new, luxury private lounge area. It added: 'Use first-class check‑in desks 54‑60 for US flights and desks 16‑20 for all other destinations during the upgrade.'
At DXB, Emirates has seven lounges in its home turf Terminal 3 — three for first class and three for business class, alongside the recently opened Emirates Lounge open to all premium travellers.
Dubai: Passengers in first class of the airline enjoy a pleasurable transit in Dubai. As transferring passengers, they are served with special services like fast-tracked security and an escort to their departure lounge.
“Shortly, as an Emirates first class traveller, you will arrive at Dubai airport in your chauffeur driven vehicle and check in at our exclusive opulently refurbished private lounge. Emirates said on its website: "Step through the bespoke doors to a quiet lounge, recline on plush sofas while our check‑in team will collect your bags and offer you warm personal service."
Emirates is famous for its luxury and top notch services millions of dirhams are also spent on lounges outside the Emirates for its own hub of Dubai.
In releasing its first-half financial report for 2024-25, it noted a Dh44m investment in new signature lounges for premium customers at London Stansted and Jeddah airports and refurbishing the existing facility at Paris Charles De Gaulle. This was included as part of a multi millions dollar continuing programme to upgrade its network of owned Emirates lounges.
Between April 1, and September 30, 2024 Emirates carried 26.9 million passengers, an increase of three per cent compared to the same period last year.
The airline added that it would update soon on the launch of a dedicated first class check-in lounge.
