Dubai DXB to serve 3.43 million passengers soon
The airport predicts that September 1 will have the highest number of passengers, with 291,000 travelers expected.
Between August 21 and September 2, Dubai International (DXB) is preparing to receive 3.43 million passengers as residents come back from their summer holidays. DXB estimated that daily traffic will reach 264,000 passengers, with more than 500,000 travelers from August 31 to September 1.
The airport predicts that September 1 will be the busiest day, with 291,000 passengers expected. Furthermore, Dubai airports stated they are working together with airlines, control authorities, and service partners to guarantee a smooth journey for all passengers.
44.9 million visitors were logged in the first half of the year
The airport has reported a record number of 44.9 million guests in the first half of this year, showing an 8 percent growth in passenger numbers compared to last year.
In the first half of 2024, Dubai's popularity as a worldwide destination for skilled workers, businesses, and financiers was evident with 9.31 million international tourists flocking to the city. The latest data from Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism show that Dubai’s GDP increased by 3.2 percent annually to AED 115 billion in Q1 2024.
"Dubai is leading the way among international cities in drawing in talent, businesses, and tourists worldwide, and we take pride in being the main access point to the city, promoting development and improving the airport experience for all visitors," said Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths.
A 7.2 percent rise in flight movements was recorded at DXB, totaling 216,000 during the first half of this year, compared to the previous year. January had the highest number of guests, totaling 7.9 million. The airport successfully handled 39.7 million bags in the first half of the year, showing a 6.7 percent yearly rise, setting a new record for the highest baggage volume managed.
Increased effectiveness
In order to guarantee a smooth experience for guests, DXB will enhance operational efficiency by implementing new features like color-coded parking lots for simpler navigation and a more advanced queue management system.
The real-time monitoring system at DXB also assists the airport in predicting and avoiding queues at various touchpoints, guaranteeing a more seamless and effective travel experience for all passengers.
In the first half of the year, less than 10 minutes of wait time at departure passport control was experienced by 98 percent of guests, while the same percentage waited under 15 minutes at arrival passport control. Furthermore, less than three minutes was the wait time for departure security screening for 95 percent of guests.
