Dubai: Dh44-million supercar, Dh1.46 million Rolex up for grabs at RM Sotheby auction
Among the collectibles that will be available at the second RM Sotheby’s sale in Dubai is a rare Mercedes-Benz G 63 once owned by members of the royal family of Dubai and a customized Pagani Zonda 760 LM Roadster, which has a $44 million price tag.
The sale is scheduled for December 1 at the Emirates Golf Club in collaboration with the 1000 Miglia Experience UAE, and collectors trying to get their hands on various goods will be able to attend the bidding, which will be held behind closed doors.
Famed car designer Horacio Pagani tailored the Zonda to its consigner, featuring clear lacquered exposed carbon bodywork. Currently, there are just 140 Zonda road cars left in existence today. The great supercar enjoyed a good run after celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, the Zonda is considered as one of the greats ever built.
A rare Pilot version of the Huayra BC will also be available for bidding at the event. Of the track oriented Huayra BC’s approximately 20 units built of this, this one stands out. Powered by a Mercedes AMG 6 litre V12 engine that produces 827 hp and has orange metallic highlights of this car’s bare lacquered carbon-fibre bodywork. And its anticipated selling price is over Dh 16 million.
Returning for the second edition
This is the second occurrence where the auction house has taken its collection to the UAE. Back in March this year, there were supercars, exquisite timepieces and even collectible items which were auctioned during a private sale event held at Al Serkal Avenue. Apart from 24 cars, sold in the price range of Dh300,000 and Dh12 million respectively, RM Sotheby’s auction also showcased a variety of awesome items which included cars driven by Michael Schumacher’s Ferrari racing suit used for the 1999 French Grand Prix weekend, and a replica of the helmet worn by famed Formula 1 racer Ayrton Senna during his racing years.
As for this year’s sale, it will include an additional lot that will consist of a set of eight assorted timepieces. The central point is the Paul Newman’s Rolex Daytona watch with an approximate value of 1.46 million dirhams.
Nostalgic petrol heads are an Aston Martin Valkyrie Coupé 2022 edition which has been designed by a car engineering legend and many-time champion Adrian Newey. It has a Cosworth V-12 powered engine that is electric motor assisted and has a horsepower of 1160 allowing it to reach 100 kilometers per hour in 2.6 seconds. It has a record sell estimate of around 11 million dirhams and at present with 109 kilometers done.
Another vehicle that is anticipated to fetch a great price is the LP770-4 Roadster, of which 20 units were manufactured, a 2017 Lamborghini Centenario Centenario was created as a homage to 100 years after the birth of Ferruccio Lamborghini. It is owned by one person and is believed to be worth around Dh8.4 million that was a single ownership unit.
The other cars which were part of the auction included two remarkable models of McLaren, three cars from Ferrari, and a 2018 Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Landaulet, of which only 99 units were built. People wishing to take part in the auction have to do so by registration of interest.
