Dubai announces start of winter camping season on October 21
According to the announcement from the authorities, the temporary camping season for winter in Dubai will be from the 21st of October until the end of April 2025.
This season’s temporary camps will be located in Al Aweer where the cooler months provide families and individuals an opportunity to revel in “Dubai's unique desert landscape” in a secure and well equipped atmosphere. The camping season has minimum permit for three months and a maximum of six months, permitting an area of up to 400 square meters on a weekly basis at the rate of 44 fils per square meter.
As per the Dubai Municipality, some designated areas have been provided whereby local companies can apply for permits to sell camping goods and service related activities.
The authority will provide permits to the applicants, defining the perimeter and scope of the camp to be established. Those in possession of the permit can then customize the area allotted to them for the construction of the camp, as long as building codes are followed and the camp only allows for camping and activities with a family theme.
The camp site must be enclosed, and no encroachment or erection of any construction beyond the prescribed limits of the permit shall be permitted.
Fireworks are not permitted at locations where camping is permitted. Other safety requirements consist of absence of offensive odors in compliance with public health and safety standards; garbage disposal; a fire extinguisher available for every 25 uniform width equivalent units; a maximum speed of 20km/h for bicycles in the camping area; and flashlights or loudspeakers should be under a ban.
