The date of the announcement is already set to the 13th of January and there will be a public vote z which will open on December 16 and close on December 31


To foster content creation, the 1 Billion Followers Summit has opened applications for the One Billion Award – a prize worth one million dollars whose aim is to appreciate the current and target content creators worldwide.


Executive Director of Great Ideas Global Larry Justus Jr announced that applications for the award began on Sunday will continue until November 30 but the winner will be announced during the a closing ceremony of the 1 Billion Followers Summit that will be hosted by the New Media Academy of Dubai between January 11 and 13, 2025 and whose theme is Content for Good.


Content creators may, however, apply for the bounty through the official website of the summit at: www.1billionsummit.com

The minister of cabinet affairs Mohammad al Gergawi stated that the award “gives the possibility of hope and creativity to the audience of new voices which enables a positive and useful change in society, a society created on the basis of love, kindness, and communication without borders. It also highlights the ability of the youth of today to forge their own path in life by being able to tell influential stories.’’ 


People hoping to win this award are requested to submit a description of their projects as well as their conception and how the projects developed. This recognition is also open to nominations from the third party of any content creators who make positive contributions to the society and promote informative contents of caring values and social good messages.


In the 1 Billion Followers Summit, the award's criteria for eligibility were also laid down, calling for those practitioners who make good content which has positive impact on society to apply.


These criteria are as follows:

  • The material should possess scientific, cultural, humanitarian and social significance, stimulate intellect, help unite different peoples, enhance the idea of oneness, support sustainable development and uphold the principles of kindness and understanding towards others. 

  • Thirdly, it should be creative, new and follow the rules and regulations governing social media networks. It should also conform to the required quality and style specifications of the target audiences.

  • It should encourage and display interaction and engagement with wider audiences.


The selection process for the One Billion Award shall commence with a selection round in which a panel of judges will review submissions from December 1 to December 15, selecting ten finalists notable for their entries. 


Starting from December 16 and ending December 31, the public will be able to vote online on their preferred projects and those votes will be counted by judges on January 11 and 12. 


The 2025 Summit has in mind introducing three different tracks, which will be Technology, Economy and Content with the intention of improving the experience of amateur as well as professional content makers. 


The 1 billion followers summit aims at achieving its target by reaching out over a billion people across the globe and, therefore, it assembles all major social media influencers across all channels. The summit’s objective is to address how new media can be used to positively influence society as well as facilitate economic development for countries.
