Dubai: 893 air-conditioned bus shelters fully operational for summer, RTA says

As per an announcement by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on Friday, the critical services for the summer session have been enabled. This includes 893 air-conditioned bus shelters which have been set up across 622 locations throughout Dubai.  

Universal People of Determination features have also been incorporated including shelters for wheelchair users and directional indicators showing the movement of buses across the emirate to assist the bus system users.  

RTA further shared: “The air-conditioned bus shelters also incorporate friendly features for the environment. Their streamlined structure enhances resistance to wind and heat. In addition to offering ample advertising space, they serve as exemplary urban infrastructure supporting environmental sustainability.”  

Digital display screens which check in real-time for bus arrivals and departures have been checked for functionality and continuous cleaning and sanitisation patrols to maintain public health and safety have been instituted, as noted by Shaikha Ahmad AlShaikh, Director of RTA’s Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector Facilities.  

Public suggestions and feedback related to the air-conditioned shelters can be done through the Madinati service available on the RTA Dubai app, as pointed out by the RTA.
