Dubai: 10 colleagues win $1 million in latest Duty Free draw

The Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire draw awarded a collective $1 million prize to a group of Indian colleagues at the Dubai International Airport last Wednesday.


The 45-year-old Indian Prasad Sivadasan purchased ticket number 3793 through an online transaction on February 19. As a system engineer for Seven Seas Technologies in Bur Dubai Sivadasan is both a parent to two children and works in his professional field.


Living in Dubai for two decades Sivadasan split the ticket cost with his nine coworkers who have been buying tickets for the Dubai Duty Free promotion for seven to eight years and rotating their names on each series purchase.

“I’m very thankful to Dubai Duty Free. He expressed his happiness about the news. The 246th Indian individual to receive $1 million from the Millennium Millionaire promotion since 1999 is Sivadasan from Kerala.


The Finest Surprise draw occurred after the conclusion of the Millennium Millionaire draw for two luxury cars and motorbikes. Abu Dhabi resident Shahul Hameed won a Tanzanite Blue Metallic BMW M850i Gran Coupe during the Finest Surprise Series 1911 using ticket number 985 which he purchased online on February 3.


Hameed has been entering Dubai Duty Free's promotions consistently for over a decade while serving as an IT manager at a semi-government organization. “Indeed, dreams do come true! After participating for ten years he finally won the car.


A 47-year-old Iranian named Adel Ranjbar residing in Dubai purchased a ticket at Terminal 2 on February 13 and won a Tanzanite Blue Metallic BMW 740i M Sport in the Finest Surprise Series 1912 with ticket number 98.


For eight years Ranjbar has been a participant in Dubai Duty Free promotions while working at a shoe shop in murshid bazaar and raising two children. I always hoped to win your promotion someday and today I have achieved that goal. Thank you Dubai Duty Free,” he said. 


The Indian resident of Dubai aged 48 years old Kamal Thahaseel Shakur claimed victory in the Finest Surprise Series 615 by winning an Indian Scout Bobber Limited Plus Tech (Black Smoke) motorbike which was registered under ticket number 175 after purchasing it in Concourse B on February 9.
Shakur who has participated in Dubai Duty Free's promotion for 10 years works as regional manager for FEDEX and he is a father of two children.


“Amazing! My happiness is considerable yet I wish that this call concerns my Millennium Millionaire ticket. He voiced his gratitude to Dubai Duty Free.


Htet Pine-Oo, a 36-year-old from Myanmar based in Sharjah secured a BMW R12 (Black Storm Metallic) motorbike with ticket number 816 in the Finest Surprise Series 616 after buying his ticket online on February 26.


Pine-Oo from Dubai who has been participating in Dubai Duty Free's promotion for the past year became the first winner from Myanmar to claim a motorbike since it became part of the Finest Surprise promotion in 2002.
