Abu Dhabi to introduce new licence plates for commercial motorcycles from 2025

On 1 January 2025, Abu Dhabi will also introduce a new type of commercial motorcycle plates for organising transportation and ensuring safer road. The yellow plates will be used for commercial bikes, but red plates will remain on personal bikes, the Integrated Transport Centre (AD Mobility) informs us. It is designed to separate the commercial and personal vehicles, for better traffic management and road safety.
Bicyclists need to swap out plates when ownership expires, or when the plate is repaired or the number is changed, AD Mobility says. This helps keep all vehicles on the road registered and identified which helps police track and control traffic flows better.
The new classification is likely to affect the whole transport sector in Abu Dhabi, making traffic smoother, rules more enforced, and the identification system of commercial and individual bicycles easier to track. It is part of ongoing measures for road safety and transport modernization as part of modernization of transport network in the emirate.
