Three years after spending hours buying tickets with 20 friends, 49-year-old Abdul Nazer got his hands on Dh100,000 this week in the Big Ticket draw.
‘I had the biggest smile on my face, I was so happy when they called to tell me the winner, it was special,’ the Indian expat said. The resident of Dubai will divide the prize between friends and leave the rest for his wife.
Except Nazer, lots of others won cash prizes of various sizes.
The Dh75,000 cash prize winner Mohammed Haneff has been a resident of Dubai for 15 years and buying Big Ticket entries for 3 years. "When I got the call, it was like a dream of mine for last 3–4 years," the 59-year-old car showroom owner from India said.
Akash Raj, another Indian foreigner, sahibged Dh70,000. ‘I got the winning call, I was afraid it was a hoax so I waited for the confirmation email,’ he said with a laugh.
He has been regularly buying Big Ticket tickets with 10 friends, every four years. He intends to divide the prize equally among his friends and reminds players, "Go on and buy more stuff, you might win some day."
The 30-year-old insurance exec added: "Now I am so thrilled! It’s a beautiful thing to win." MD Mehendi who won the Dh50,000 prize is originally from Bangladesh and currently lives in UAE.
As you see, with every ticket purchase this month, you’re also guaranteed a ticket to the live draw for a shot at the top prize of Dh30 million, and also into the weekly draws for a shot at Dh1 million, every week throughout December.
