Dubai: 450 free car seats gifted to newborns for UAE National Day
Newborn babies born during UAE National Day weekend got free child car seats, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said on Thursday.
Some 450 child car seats were distributed to new mothers born between December 1 and 5 in 24 hospitals under the ‘My Baby’s Gift on Eid Al Etihad’ scheme. "It will provide all the new babies born in Dubai hospitals for Eid Al Etihad festival with free child car seat.

My Baby’s Gift on Eid Al Etihad’ programme has given away more than 2,000 child car seats to mothers in hospitals at Eid Al Etihad holidays for the past five years.
Dubai Police, Dubai Health Authority and UNICEF are the backers of ‘My Baby’s Gift on Eid Al Etihad’.
The point of Al Banna’s article was that parents should always use car seats when driving their children. He - added that there is international evidence that child car seats correctly prevents 54% of injury and death in children, and 71% of injuries in newborns. And child car seats reduce traffic injuries for 4 to 8 year olds by 45%.
"RTA works within established plans regularly revised in line with the demand of all target groups in the community. "These programmes include everything from activities and initiatives related to newborn safety, children and students safety, all drivers and road users in Dubai," he added.
The CEO of the Traffic and Roads Agency asked parents to play safe in traffic while driving. He stressed that infant car seats should be taken if travelling with newborns: children younger than 10 years or under 145cm should not be permitted to be in the front seat. For this, the fine is Dh400. Further, the violation comes to Dh400 fine if you bring children aged 4 years old or below on board without the right type of child protection seats.
